Kinumpirma kahapon ng pulisya na dalawang mortar rounds ang ginamit sa paggawa ng improvised explosive device (IED) na sumabog sa Roxas night market sa Davao City noong Setyembre 2 na ikinasawi ng 14 katao at ikinasugat ng halos 70 pa.

Sa ulat ni Davao Region police director Chief Supt. Manuel Gaerlan, ang IED “was made out of two mortar rounds.”

Sinabi ni Gaerlan na ang IED, at gawa sa pinagsamang  60 mm at 81 mm mortar round.
“That’s why the explosion was that strong,” wika ni  Gaerlan.

Ayon kay Gaerlan, sa ngayon ay patuloy ang kanilang imbestigasyon sa insidente ng pagsabog.

“With the magnitude of the explosion and the preparation, I would say the intent of the IED-ma­ker really was to harm and inflict maximum ca­sualty. This is already… I would say a very barbaric act and an act of terrorism,” dagdag ni Gaerlan.
