Kumalembang agad si Katherine Bell upang pasanin ang Petron sa 25-18, 23-25, 25-16, 25-23 panalo kontra Cocolife sa Game 1 ng Chooks to Go-Philippine Superliga (PSL) Grand Prix best-of-three semifinals series kahapon sa FilOil Flying V Centre, San Juan.

Pinalitan ni import Bell si Hillary Hurley na nagkaroon ng ankle injury at sa unang laro, ipinaramdam nito ang kanyang lakas para mamuro sa championship round ang Blaze Spikers.

Sakaling manalo ang Petron sa Game 2 bukas, haharapin nila ang mananalo sa pagitan ng defending champion F2 Logistics at Foton.

Kumana ang 25-anyos na si Bell ng 27 attacks upang ilista ang 29 points para sa Blaze Spikers sa event na suportado ng UCPB Gen at Isuzu.

Nagpakitang-gilas din si former Most Valuable Player awardee Lindsay Stalzer, tumikada ng 19 kills at tigalawang aces at blocks sa kanyang 23 markers para sa Petron habang bumakas si Mika Reyes at Frances Molina ng siyam at walong puntos ayon sa pagkakasunod.

“What happened to us in the finals (last year) was a lesson learned,” saad ni Petron coach Shaq Delos Santos. “We don’t want it to happen. Despite this win, we will still work hard and polish our lapses in our game.”

Ayon pa kay Delos Santos, napaganda ang kanilang sugal na magpalit ng import.

“She just arrived last week and has been with us for only nine days. We’re so lucky that the schedule was adjusted so we had time to adjust. Anyway, it wasn’t a major adjustment. She’s very jolly and easy to get along.” (Elech Dawa)
