Magbabalik-Philippine Azkals ang isa mga nagpasikat sa 2010 national men’s football team na si Chieffy Caligdong pero hindi na para sumipa kundi bilang bahagi ng coaching staff.
Tinapik si Caligdong, nagretiro sa national team nung 2014, ni Azkals coach Thomas Dooley para tulungan siyang maihanda ang team sa international friendly konra No. 105 Kyrgyz Republic sa Bishkek.
“Chieffy is there to assist in the field training of the players and perform other tasks as may be assigned by Coach Dooley,” esplika kahapon ni Philippine Football Federation general secretary Edwin Gastanes.
Umalis na kahapon ang Azkals para sa 28-hour journey sa Bishkek via Bangkok at Astana.
Naka-focus ang Pinoy booters sa 11th Asean Football Federation Suzuki Cup na ihu-host ng PFF sa November.
Kasama sa biyahe sina regulars Amani Aguinaldo, Misagh Bahadoran, Kenshiro Daniels, Patrick Deyto, Neil Etheridge, Kevin Ingreso, Roland Muller, Manny Ott, Iain Ramsay, Daisuke Sato, Martin Steuble, Dennis Villanueva, at Phil and James Younghusband.
