Masaya si former Alaska coach Alex Compton para sa 6-foot-4 guard na si Vic Manuel dahil kabilang na sa national team.

Ito’y tapos imbitahan ni Gilas coach Tim Cone si Alex Compton sa Gilas Pilipinas training upang obserbahan ang pinapakitang performance ng player niya.

Isa si 7-year PBA Veteran Manuel sa paunang tauhan ni Compton sa Alaska kaya naman nung nakita niyang kabilang ito sa roster ng Barangay Ginebra San Miguel coach Tim ay laking tuwa naman at ‘proud’ para sa manlalaro niya.

“Oh, I’m so happy for him,” ani Compton sa panayam ng ABS-CBN. “Karangalan ‘yan eh. It’s everybody’s desire when they grow up, to play for the Philippine team.”

Pinalitan si Compton ni Jeffrey Cariaso sa Alaska bench nitong Agosto lang.
Naniniwala rin siya na may impact si ‘Muscle Man’ para sa Gilas.

“He’s just like a basket waiting to happen. He steps on the floor, and you’re like, if he touches it, that thing might go in. It might just graze his hand and it’s gonna go in,” saloobin pa ng dating Aces taskmaster.

“Para kay Vic, kahit anong mangyayari, at least umabot siya sa practice. “It’s up to coach, he’s still gotta make the final 12, but kahit hanggang ngayon, talagang masaya ako para sa kanya,” panapos niyang pahayag. (Aivan Episcope)
