Tututukan ni Senador Panfilo Lacson ang Philippine National Police (PNP) kung mawawala na ang tinaguriang ‘kotong cops’ sa kanilang hanay kapag pinairal ang panibagong round ng umento sa sahod ng military at uniformed personnel sa Enero 1,2019.

Ang panibagong dagdag sa sahod ng mga miyembro ng PNP, Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), Bureau of Corrections (BuCor), Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP), Philippine Coast Guard at National Mapping and Resource Information Authority (Namria) ay nakapaloob sa Joint Resolution No. 1 na pinagtibay ng Kongreso at isinabatas noong Hulyo 2017.

“Starting January 2019, when the salary increase of policemen takes effect in com­pliance with Joint Resolution No. 1, it bears watching if ‘kotong cops’ will disappear from the street corners and dark alleys and instead focus on their job of protecting and serving the people,” sabi ni Lacson.

Sa kabila nito, naniniwala naman si Lacson na magtitino na at pagbubutihin ng mga kapulisan ang kanilang trabaho sa darating na 2019 dahil sa mga benepisyo at suportang i­binibigay sa kanila ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte.

“I have high hopes that it will materialize, since with all the benefits and unprecedented salary hike accorded to the military and uniformed personnel,” ani senador.

“Thanks to the strong political will of President Rodrigo Duterte who almost singlehandedly pushed for the same, there is every reason for right-thinking police officers to love and secure their profession, not to mention to be motiva­ted enough to show a debt of gratitude to their Commander-in-Chief who made an almost impossible legislation to pass,” dagdag nito.
