Tataas nang husto ang presyo ng kuryente!

Ito ang naging babala ni dating Bayan Muna Congressman Neri Colmenares sa mga kustomer ng Manila Electric Company (Meralco).

Aniya, aabot sa P1.80 per kilowatt hour ang magiging karagdagan dahil sa kontruksyon ng 1,200 megawatt Atimonan Power Plant na pag-aari rin umano ng Meralco.

Ito ang magiging resulta sa presyo makaraang aminin ng Meralco na umabot na P15 bilyon ang kanilang gastos sa pagpapagawa ng pasilidad ng ­Atimonan One power plant.

“The continuing escalation in construction cost of the Atimonan One po­wer plant will translate in one year to an estimated P1.80 per kwh increase in capacity cost, a major component embedded in computing Atimonan One’s power rate,” saad pa ni Colmenares na isa rin sa mga consumer advocate.

“The capital cost increase will add to the estimated P5.66 per kwh ave­rage power rate of Atimonan One, or a total of P7.46 per kwh. This is clearly exorbitant because other power generation companies like the San Miguel Corporation now offer electricity for as low as P2.95/kwh,” dagdag pa niya.

Tiniyak ni Colmenares na hindi sasaluhin ng Meralco ang nasabing gastusin na pihadong ipapasa nito sa kanilang mga konsyumer.

Matatandaan na binalot ng kontrobersiya ang kasunduang Meralco at Atimonan One makaraang hindi umano ito dumaan sa regular na proseso ng ­Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC).
