Pinasinayaan ng ­Philippine Sports Commission ang limang taong programa ­simula sa taong ito hanggang 2022 na magpapaunlad sa sports lalo na sa grassroots para makatuklas ng magagaling na mga ­atleta.

“We will be ­focusing on athletic ­development on Local Government Units, sustaining our plan to put up a real grassroots sports ­program and define main strategy and concrete targets and give more budget to athletes and coaches who will be products of these programs for the Southeast Asian, Asian and Olympic Games,” ­pahayag ni PSC chair Butch Ramirez isang press conference sa St. Benilde Hotel sa ­Malate.

Nasa okasyon din sina Commissioners Ramon Fernandez, Charles Raymond Maxey, ­Arnold Agustin at Fatima Celia Kiram at sina Executive Director Karlo Abarquez, Chief of Staff Ronnel Abrenica at Phil. Sports Institure national training director Marc Edward Velasco.

Nakaporma na ang Philippine Sports Institute at parating na ang biniling mga ­kagamitan para rito na makaka­tulong sa mga ­atleta. Napagkasunduan na rin sa katatapos na PSC ­Directional Meeting ang pagpapalawak sa Philip­pine National Games, Batang Pinoy, Sports for Peace Games.

Binanggit ni Fernandez na sa Dec. 3-9 na ang PNG National Finals na may 27 sports ang pag­lalabanan, sinabi ni Kiram na tuloy ang Batang Pinoy Minda­nao Leg sa July 9-15 sa Oroquieta, Visayas Leg sa Dumaguete (Sept. 10-16) at Luzon Leg sa Vigan (Oct. 22-28). Ihaha­yag pa ang National Finals sa susunod na taon.
