Ginebra liyamado kapag chill lang si ‘JB’

Kung kailan bumaba ang stats ni Justin Brownlee, saka naman nanalo ang Ginebra sa PBA Commissioner’s Cup semis.

Sa Game 3 ng best-of-five nitong Martes sa MOA Arena, nagsumite si Brownlee ng 14 points, 11 rebounds at 8 assists.

Mula sa floor ay 5 of 15 lang siya, 1 for 5 sa 3-point area, pero umiskor ng 8 sa fourth para itulak sa 80-72 win ang Ginebra kontra TNT. Idinikit ng defending cham-pions ang series deficit sa 2-1.

Tapos ng tatlong quarters ay nakaka-6 points pa lang ang reigning Best Import.

Ayon kay coach Tim Cone, dismayado raw si Brownlee sa performance niya sa Game 1 kahit nagsumite ng 23 points, 15 rebounds at 9 assists. Gigil siyang bumawi sa Game 2, nagkamada naman ng 25 at 13. Pero parehong sadsad ang Gins sa dalawang laro.

“He was very upset about the fourth quarter in Game 1,” bunyag ni Cone. “I think that’s why he came out a little gigil in Game 2 and he was not playing at a good tempo.”

Sa Game 3 ay naging kalmado na si Brownlee, ‘di ipinuwersa ang sarili at sumunod sa game plan. Kahit naka-2 points lang siya sa first half, ‘di nanggigil.

“That’s the great thing about Justin. He isn’t only a great player, he follows the game plan. He sacrifices himself, and do things that truly make him a good player,” paliwanag ni Cone. “I think that’s why we won tonight.”
Pinag-aralan aniya ni Brownlee kung paano niya babasagin ang depensa ng KaTropa, ‘di niya minadali.

“Try to read the defenses a lot better this game. Talk ‘n Text is really a good defensive team,” panapos aniya. “Just reading the game, and, to be honest, just be focused on defense … I really tried to focus on the defensive end and try to come up with stops and get guys involved on offense.”
