Sa 30 taon ni Tim Cone sa PBA, unang tingin pa lang ay nababalahibuhan na agad niya kung may ibubuga ang isang player.

Nagawa na ito ni Cone dati kina Merwin Castelo at Poch Juinio noong kapanahunan niya sa Alaska.

Muli niyang nakita ang kakayahan ni Teytey Teodoro, ang bilugang guard mula Jose Rizal University (JRU) na se­cond round pick (23rd overall) ng Columbian sa draft noong isang buwan. Hindi pinapirma ng Dyip si Teodoro, sinalo ni Cone at binigyan ng one-conference contract sa Ginebra.

“He doesn’t get rattled, nothing overcomes him. And you see that right away,” lahad ni Cone. “You see a Johnny Abarrientos-type of personality where nothing rattles him.”

Nasa Heavy Bombers pa si Teodoro, nakamata na sa kanya si Cone.

Hanggang magpalista ang 6-foot-1 guard sa PBA Draft.

“Before the rookie camp, I already had my eyes on him,” lahad ni Cone. “When he went to the rookie camp, he was a little out of shape. He gained weight from what I’ve seen him previously and I was a little concerned, but I was also telling myself maybe that would turn off all the other coaches and maybe he would have the chance to drop down to us.”
