Pinapurihan ang Coast Guard dahil sa pagpapahalaga sa kalusugan at kabuhayan ng maliliit na mangingida sa panahon ng enhanced community quarantine.
Bilang pagsunod sa deklarasyon ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte na ipatupad sa buong Luzon ang enhanced community quarantine dahil sa banta ng COVID-19 ay nag-isyu ang Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) ng panuntunan sa paglalayag ng mga mangingisda kaya malayang makakapangisda ang commercial fish workers sa mga lugar na sakop ng community quarantine.
Ang naunang advisory sa publiko kaugnay sa ‘no sail policy ‘ ay nilinaw at para lamang ito sa mga passenger vessels.
Magpapatuloy ang fishing operations hangga’t sumusunod sa ipinaiiral na health protocols at safety guidelines sa ilalim ng pangangasiwa ng PCG, Philippine National Police – Maritime Group, at Philippine Navy.
“By clarifying the process and mechanisms during the period of the enhanced community quarantine, the Philippine Coast Guard helps our fishers earn income amidst the government’s efforts to contain the spread of the dreaded novel coronavirus. This is very important, especially for our poor artisanal fishers and fishworkers who need their daily income to ensure their families have food on the table and will have money to buy for their basic necessities,” pahayag ni Atty.
