Nagpahayag ng pag-aalala sina Bayan Muna Rep. Carlos Isagani Zarate at Bayan Muna chairman Neri Colmenares sa inaprubahang substitute bill ng House committee on energy o ang Murang Kuryente Act.
Diskumpiyado ang dalawa sa magiging diskarte ng paglalalaan ng pondo ng Malampaya Natural Gas Project dahil ibabayad ito sa pagkakautang ng National Power Corporation (NPC).
“Para tuloy hinayaan lang natin na lustayin ang Malampaya funds ng ganu’n na lang. Lalo pa kapag in-over value nila ang stranded cost ng Napocor. While it is good that we want to lower the rate of electricity but corporations should not be the ones to benefit from the taxpayers money,” saad ni Zarate.
Umapela naman si Rep. Zarate sa mga ahensiya ng gobyerno partikular na sa Commission on Audit (COA) na imbestigahan ang nakakaalarmang pagtaas ng mga subsidiya ng gobyerno sa mga missionary area na noong 2015 ay P3.5 bilyon lamang subalit lolobo sa P14.13 bilyon pagsapit ng taong 2020 o 300% paglaki.
“That is a jump of P10.13 Billion in 5 years in islands like Occidental Mindoro, Marinduque, Catanduanes, Tablas, and Romblon where power use grew only 34%. In the other large islands like Oriental Mindoro, Palawan, Busuanga, Bantayan, and others already served by new power providers or NPP’s, the missionary subsidy was about the same at P3.7 billion in 2015 and increased to P4.76 Billion by 2020 or an increase of 28.6% over five (5) years and average of 5.72% per year. The average increase in the Napocor areas is 60.6% per year for the same period,” giit pa ng Bayan Muna solon.
Ang nakakaalarmang datos aniya ay hango mula sa Missionary Electrification Development Plan mula taong 2016 hanggang 2020 ng Department of Energy (DOE).
