Norwood inalala ang tsikahan kay Mamba

Shocking para kay Gabe Norwood ang pumutok na balita na patay na si Kobe Bryant.

“Like everybody, kinda hoping and expecting it to be some fake news or something like that,” anang veteran guard/forward ng Rain or Shine.

Hindi makalimutan ni Norwood ang July 2011 nang mapasama sa PBA Selection na nakipaglaro kay Kobe at NBA stars sa Smart Araneta Coliseum sa event na tinawag na Ultimate All-Star Weekend.

Nagtsikahan aniya sila noon sa isang break, napag-usapan ang pinasukan nilang eskuwelahan.

“Pretty cool experience,”­ aniya. “Myself, Danny Seigle and Kobe, we all won high school state championships in Pennsylvania.”

Sa State College sa Pennsylvania nag-high school si Norwood, sa Carbondale naman si Seigle na kasali rin noon sa PBA Selection. Sa area na ‘yun nag-high school si Kobe, sa Lower Merion,­ bago dumiretso sa NBA noong 1996.

Ilang sandali lang ang kuwentuhan nila, pero tumatak na sa isip ni Norwood. Ang NBA superstar isang Kobe Bryant, lumapit sa kanya para makipagtsikahan.

Kasama noon ni Norwood ang panganay niya na bagong panganak pa lang.
“My first son was just born and we were sitting on the sidelines and he got to shake Kobe’s hand at the age of three or four months,” pahayag ng Fil-Am. “Those are pictures that I can share with him for a lifetime.”

Masyado aniya humble si Kobe, hindi mo aakalaing isang NBA superstar sa kababaan ng ugali. (Vladi Eduarte)
