Paddlers ng PCKDF sa SMC-PSA Awards

Kikilalanin sa SMC-PSA (Philippine Sportswriters Association) Annual Awards Night, ngayong Martes, Peb. 26 ang Philippine Canoe Kayak and Dragonboat Federation paddlers sa Centennial Hall ng Manila Hotel.

Nag-uwi ang kopunan ng limang gintong medalya mula sa ICF World Dragon Boat Championships noong nakaraang taon kalaban ang mga bansang Hungary, France, Germany, Canada, Czech Republic, Armenia, Italy, Russia, Japan, Switzerland, Ukraine at host United States.

Pinangunahan ni Hermie Macaranas, Ojay Fuentes, drummer Patricia Bustamante at steersman Maribeth Caranto ang 10-seater at 20-seater senior mixed at 200-meter at 500m races.

Sa tulong ng Go For Gold nais nitong hikayatin pa ang kababaihan na sumali sa mga pala­kasan.

“We are firm believers­ in equality in sports and we hope that we can encourage more women to join not just dragonboat, but all sports,” pahayag ni Go For Gold godfather Jeremy Go.

Giniit nina PCKDF president Jonee Go at head coach Leonora ‘Len’ Escollante, na hindi lang sipag, tiyaga ang susi sa tagumpay nila kundi sa tulong ng GFG.

Ilan pa sa mga mi­yembro ng nat’l dragonboat team ay sina Mark Jhon Frias, Oliver Manaig, Reymart Nevado, Daniel Ortega, Raquel Almencion, Rosalyn Esguerra, Glaiza Liwag, Cristine Mae Talledo, Jonathan Ruz, John Paul Selencio, Sharmane Mangilit, Rhea Roa, John Lester delos Santos, Lee Robin Santos, Jordan De Guia and Roger Masbate.
