Normal lang para kay Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra ang pag-supervise ng Prosecutor General (PG) sa mga prosecutor na humahawak ng mga partikular na kaso, tulad ng mga kinahaharap na drug cases ni Senadora Leila De Lima.
Ang pahayag ni Guevarra ay kasunod ng pag-i-isyu nito ng Department Order na nagtatalaga kay Prosecutor General Benedicto Malcontento bilang supervising head ng Trial Team, Trial Support at Administrative Team ng mga prosecutor.
Ang trial team ay binubuo ng 11 miyembro, kabilang ang pinuno nitong provincial prosecutor; habang ang trial support at administrative team naman ay bubuuhin ng apat na miyembro at pinuno na Senior Assistant City Prosecutor.
Ang administrative support staff of the teams naman ay magkakaroon ng tatlong miyembro.
Nilinaw naman ni Guevarra ang tungkulin ng PG na pagbutihan lamang ang koordinasyon pagdating sa usaping administratibo.
“The team has been quite big since the beginning as the prosecutors have to deal with three different cases with different sets of accused in three different courts, not to mention that they have to confer with some witnesses who are in prison,” ani kalihim.
“The PG is there only to enhance coordination. Absolutely nothing to do with US senators nor with so-called ninja cops,” sabi pa niya.
