Lusot na sa Kamara ang Philippine Space Development bill.
Sa botong 207 na pumabor, walang kumontra at wala ring abstention kaya inaprubahan ng Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso ang panukala na magtataguyod ng Philippine Space Development and Utilization Policy (PSDUP) at magtatatag ng Philippine Space Agency (PhilSA).
Si Bohol Rep. Erico Aristotle Aumentado ang pangunahing nag-akda ng panukala.
“It (PSDUP) shall focus on the following areas to ensure the country’s sustained progress: 1) national security and development; 2) hazard management and climate studies; 3) space research and development; 4) space industry capacity building; 5) space education and awareness; and 6) international cooperation,” ayon sa panukala.
Nakapaloob din sa panukala ang pagbuo ng PhilSA na magiging tampok na ahensya ng gobyerno na tutugon sa lahat ng mga usapin at aktibidad na may kaugnayan sa SSTA.
“The PhilSA shall be composed of the Office of the Director General, the Offices of three Deputy Directors General, and various divisions and offices to be created as deemed necessary,” batay pa sa panukala. (Aries Cano)
