Hinugot si Japanese Shun Takahashi, assistant coach ng Japan natio­nal seniors women’s team, para magtimon sa Philippine Superliga All-Star squad na sasabak sa FIVB Women’s Club World Championship sa Mall of Asia Arena sa Oct. 18-23.

Si Takahashi ang hahasa sa PSL All-Stars na sasagupa sa mga astig na club teams mula Italy, Japan, Brazil, Turkey, Switzerland at Thailand.

“We tapped a Japanese coach because we know the level of their training and their system,” paliwanag ni PSL president Ramon ‘Tats’ Suzara.

Trademark ni Takahashi, 26, ang pagiging mahigpit na drillmaster at na-appoint na assistant ni Masayoshi Manabe sa Japanese national wo­men’s team noong April. Dati siyang naglaro sa FC Tokyo sa Japan Premier League bago napunta sa Red Star club ng Serbia.

Sa women’s team, trabaho ni Takahashi ang drills, scrimmages, training at tactics. Darating ang coach sa Sept. 14 at bubuksan agad ang training camp ng PSL All-Star squad na bubuuin ng pitong Filipino at pitong foreign players.

Assistants ni Takahashi sina Ramil de Jesus ng F2 Logistics at Sammy Acaylar ng Cignal, trainers sina Kungfu Reye sng RC Cola-Army at Benson Bocboc ng F2. Sina George Pascua ng Petron at Francis Vicente ng Generika ang team statisticians, nasa training staff sina Michael Carino ng Cignal, Ian Fernandez ng Foton, Noel Orcollo ng F2 at Tina Salak ng RC Cola-Army.

Kasama ni Suzara nang ihayag ang pagkuha kay Takahashi si Eventcourt CEO Peter Bratschi, co-organizer ng torneo.
