Inihayag ni Iloilo Rep. Janette Garin ang malaking problema sa Implementing Rules and Regulation (IRR) ng Universal Health Care (UHC) Law.
Sa isinagawang briefing ng Department of Health (DOH) sa Mababang Kapulungan ng Kongreso noong Miyerkoles, iginiit ng mambabatas na hindi dapat dumepende sa Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) ang UHC program.
Ikinababahala ni Garin na kapag bumagsak ang PhilHealth baka madamay rin ang naturang programa.
Aniya, wala namang problema ang presensya ng PhilHealth sa UHC Law, kung sa DOH naman dedepende ang programa at hindi sa PhilHealth mismo.
“One thing that we personally looked up as the possible big loophole in the UHC Act is the fact that going over the IRR, it seems to imply that UHC is somehow on a big perspective dependent on PhilHealth. I look at this as a very big problem because if PhilHealth collapses, then the whole UHC program goes down the drain,” ani Garin.
Ipinahayag naman ni PhilHealth president at chief executive officer Ricardo Morales ang kahandaan ng kanilang ahensya para sa implementasyon ng UHC program.
Ayon kay Morales, mayroon silang nakalaan na P147 billion reserve fund kung kaya maituturing na ‘financially viable’ ang PhilHealth. (Lorraine Gamo)
