Hindi lang umano dapat ituon ang mass testing para sa COVID-19 sa Metro Manila kundi dapat ding palawakin ang pagsasagawa nito sa Visayas at Mindanao.

“Kung sa Metro Manila lang tayo mag-focus, hindi natin matatalo itong COVID,” pahayag ni Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri sa isang statement.

“The longer we hold other regions back from massive testing, the higher the chances that the virus will continue to spread there, even with community quarantine. We can’t afford for that to happen. Dapat maagapan natin as soon as possible,” dagdag pa nito.

Ayon kay Zubiri, sa kasalukuyan, isa lang ang accredited COVID-testing laboratory sa Mindanao – ang Southern Philippines Medical Center sa Davao City.

“I know the gold standard of testing for COVID-19 are the PCR test kits, like those we donated to PGH. But in the absence of accredited laboratories across the country, these rapid test kits will have to do for now,” sambit pa nito.

Sabi pa ni Zubiri, nakatakda siyang mag-donate ng 6,000 rapid test kits sa iba’t ibang hospital sa Bukidnon, Misamis Oriental, Surigao del Norte, and Cotabato.

Samantala, sinabi naman ni Senadora Risa Hontiveros na dapat isailalim ang lahat ng Pinoy sa mass testing bago magdesisyon ang gobyerno na i-modify at di kaya’y palawigin pa ang community quarantine sa Luzon at iba pang lugar.

“Whether the enhanced community quarantine is extended or modified, we cannot proceed without devoting more efforts towards mass testing of Filipinos,” ani Hontiveros.

“Quarantines and social distancing, while important, are clearly only part of the solution. We can only end this pandemic if we identify, isolate and treat every person infected with COVID-19,” dagdag pa nitio. (Dindo Matining)
