Ibang-iba kumpara sa mga nakalipas na State of the Nation Address (SONA) ang aasahan ng publiko sa pagharap ni Pangulong Rodrigo Duterte sa kauna-unahang Ulat sa Bayan sa Hulyo 25, ayon sa Malacañang.

Sa isang press briefing sa Malacañang, sinabi ni Atty. Paola Alvarez, incoming spokesperson ng Department of Finance (DOF) at isa sa nanga­ngasiwa sa preparasyon sa SONA, na “downplay event” ang masasaksihan ng taumbayan. Ang lahat umano ay mababawasan mula sa entourage, sa dami ng sasalubong sa Pangulo hanggang sa dress code at ang tanging sentro umano ng okasyon ay ang kauna-unahang talumpati sa bayan ng Pangulo.

“It will be a different take because our guests would be requested not to wear their gowns as what we have previously have been seeing in the past SONAs. And second, for the entrance, Director Brillante Mendoza wants to emphasize on how the formalities are done especially when the President is greeted in the entrance by the Senate President and the incoming Speaker of the House.

So instead of having a lot of congressmen there, we will be minimizing this to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House and afterward we will have the majority floor leader of both Houses to escort the President,” paliwanag ni Alvarez.

Kung dati umano ay red carpet ang inaabangan sa SONA, ngayon umano ay walang gowns na irarampa bagkus ay business attire lamang o opsyon ng magsuot ng Filipiniana.

“The dress code will be business attire but you have the option of wea­ring Filipiniana as long as, for the ladies, it will not be more than knee length. Yes, it was specifically asked of us to require the ladies not to have long dresses,” giit pa ni Alvarez.

Patungkol naman sa magiging speech ng Pangulong Duterte sinabi nito na hindi pa nila batid kung ano ang kabuuang content nito subalit tiyak na tatala­kay ito sa mga legislative agenda ng administrasyon pangunahin na ang pagkakaroon ng death penalty sa heinous crimes, pagsusulong ng federal form of government, tax reform at PERA law.

Sinabi ni Alvarez na kung dati ay uso ang paninisi sa SONA kay Pa­ngulong Duterte umano ay wala nito dahil ang personalidad umano ng Pangulo ay hindi naman ganito.
“Based from his personality, you don’t see him doing that (bla­ming) and he is one who takes charge and he is accountable for his actions.

So I think it would be the same tone and there will not be any bla­ming game,” dagdag pa ni Alvarez.

Patungkol naman sa kung sino-sino ang iimbitahan at naimbitahan na ng Pangulong Duterte para dumalo sa kanyang SONA, sinabi ni Alvarez na hindi pa nila ito batid.
